Astavakra Geeta - Chapter 1 Verse 15 - Bondage
It is we ourself, who feel we are in bondage. Its our thought which prevents us from the ultimate freedom. Our basic nature itself is that, we are free, still, self-luminous, stainless. Its the layer of mind, layer of thoughts which makes us to think that way. It is the thought which makes us to believe that we are not free, we are not still, we are not self-luminous, we are with stains and so on.
Here we have to neither oppose bondage nor accept freedom. When we start accepting the situation as they are, we are already free. If we try purposefully to be free, we are in fact trapped into that bondage. The strong desire to be free is also one sort of bondage. Therefore in the verse it is said that meditation is also bondage, if we are trying to achieve something from it. Desire to achive something is the most dangerous bondage. Dangerous becase, we cant even see it, we cant even realise it.
